Discovering what love is one day at a time
I saw a quote the other day that said “You may be alive…but that doesn’t mean you are living.” As I chewed on it that one song by Guns N Roses went through my head… It goes something like this…
“When you were young & your heart was an open book, you used to say live and let live, You know you did(x3), But if this ever changing world in which we live in… Makes you give in and cry, Say live and let die…”

Isn’t it wonderful that everyone in this world has different ideas, different perceptions on life, and personalities different from ours?
Isn’t it wonderful that we all get the freedom to choose how we are going to live our lives? Are we not enriched by the fact that we are all not the same? Isn’t it wonderful that we do not have to convince others of the way we have chosen to live? Isn’t it beautiful that we can value and honor one another despite the fact that we may not understand the way someone has chosen to live and operate in their lives….and we do not have to agree? Would it not be even more wonderful if we all would choose to have honor and value for each other? Would it be beautiful to see hearts choosing to love despite disagreement…That as a people we would not operate out of fear in disagreement…and verbally separate ourselves from others by letting everyone know our disagreement? Which may look like name calling or gossip or complete avoidance... as I am sure their are many other unhealthy ways to show disagreement. I love that we get to manage ourselves, and we get to enjoy the people around us. Praying that we all would truly celebrate, value and honor the lives that we are surrounded with. There are so many trains of thought in regards to spirituality. For example, the path to enlightenment…finding your identity…karma… your spirit animal or totem, your color, vibrations, mantras…so many religions…so many ideas…so many rituals so many philosophies based on human tradition. Many which are very legalistic, including the worship of angels, mystical in practice with visions and revelations, worship of spirits and gods, calling for asceticism, and worldly philosophy combining a man made religion trying to sanctify the “believer” through his or her own knowledge and philosophy through the practice of ceremonial rituals.
When God whispers a promise unto our hearts, it fills us with hope and joyful expectation. Oftentimes, that promise, by the sight of our flesh is “crazy” unattainable, and sometimes we just can’t make sense of how God is going to get us there…even in this lifetime; BUT, because He has whispered and spoken His promised Word unto our hearts, we hold on. He is the WHY, the WHAT FOR, which causes us to wait, with patient enduring faith.
“You hear O LORD the desire of the afflicted, you encourage them and you listen to their cry.”
Sometimes we cannot even express our desire, there are no words that come from the place of the broken heart, however our God hears that cry. That truly overwhelms and satiates my soul. To me it is a picture of our heavenly Father leaning in, listening and waiting to respond to the needs of His beloved children. |
