Discovering what love is one day at a time
I am constantly reminded of how needy I am for the grace of God and His transforming and redeeming grace in every part of my life. Also, I am reminded how important it is to be watchful, diligent and guard what has been entrusted to me.

I was talking to my son the other day, and he was remembering having a pin in his finger to repair his tendon while it was healing…He was talking about the difficulties he had because of that wound, and how grateful he was that it wasn’t his thumb. He talked about how he had to use his other hand to assist him in things he normally could use just one hand for, and how stubborn he was in terms of doing some things, and refusing to do some other things because he did not want to ask for help… It just got me thinking about our bodies, and specifically the body of Christ.

Have you ever tried to shut a door and it will not stay shut…something on the latch just will not connect? Have you ever tried to move a door that is heavy against a gusting tornado wind or an elephant pushing against the other side? It won’t budge, eh? There are Truths that cannot be closed up, that will never be removed. We can close our ears, our eyes and our hearts, but the Truths will remain.
There is one God… He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The government is upon His Shoulders. His Name is Jesus Christ the Lord. He is Ruler; He reigns He is the only Mediator between God and mankind, the man Jesus Christ. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth(as indeed there are many ”gods” and many “lords”) yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 Jesus Christ has opened the door to us that we may have full fellowship with the Father. That we may have an intimate connected relationship with the King of the Universe, the Creator. He is the Gate, or the Door, Jesus Christ. He has opened the way to the Father. There is no other way to the Father except through Jesus Christ. What He opens no one can shut and what He shuts no one can open. Revelation 3:7 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on earth below. There is no other. Deuteronomy 4:39 For in Him all things were created things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:3 One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all in all. Ephesians 4:5-6 Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like You. Jeremiah 10:7 No one is like you, LORD; You are great and Your Name is mighty in power. Jeremiah 10:6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise and glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3 He has made a way for us. Today do not harden your heart when you hear His voice speaking to your heart. Do not try to push back on a door that has been opened to you; whether that door is for Salvation or another area in your heart that the Lord God is willing to set you free. Do not harden your heart, with rebellion against Him. He makes Himself known to us, not to condemn us but to set us free. Today, when you hear His voice choose to respond. Choose whom you will serve. Proverbs 7:18 Come let us take our fill of love until the morning let us solace ourselves with loves.
How often do you and I seek solace in a place other than Jesus Christ? Seeking solace is trying to give comfort to; it’s consoling by making cheerful, amusing, allaying, or soothing. How often do we allow our attention to be focused elsewhere, when His grace is pointing us in a direction we are not comfortable with? What is it that diverts our attention from our need rather than taking responsibility for it? Just thinking about His awesome grace, and how He hedges us in, behind and before, how not a word is on our tongue before He knows it all-together. How His thoughts are all of love toward us and they are more numerous than the grains of sand. How His goodness and mercy are following after us all the days of our lives. How His Spirit is in us…and it can rest upon us…but it is a matter of abiding…. “Abide in Me and I in You. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” How often, are our eyes opened to an issue in our hearts? What causes you or I to solace ourselves with loves? Why are we content with subduing the discomfort, rather than cutting away the thing that needs to go? Abiding is waiting for, enduring without yielding, withstanding, and bearing patiently. It is remaining stable or even fixed in a state…continuing in a place. It is staying in the place that He has set us. It is taking to heart the promises He has set before us. It is walking out His Truth in our own life. It is not yielding to those things that are contrary to Him. It is not seeking solace anywhere else than in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our comfort. He is the One continually opening our eyes to see things in our own hearts…and the heart’s cry of others. Is the Holy Spirit leading you in a direction you have never gone before? Is He offering to take you out of YOUR place of comfort so that you can rest in His? And why? Why abide? What is so important about yielding fruit? It’s just not about us. It is about others…Look at the disciples that carried the unadulterated presence of the Holy Spirit. What happened around them? What amazing, beautiful things happened to hearts around them? It is not about what we can do...Its about what He wants to do, and what He will do, and what He already did. He simply calls us to abide in Him. He always is with us...but will we be with Him? Will we receive Him? |
