Discovering what love is one day at a time
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit . John 3:8 There are so many voices that try to pull us in one direction or another…some are boisterous and loud, trying to startle us or shake us from our place of rest…and yet there is but one voice that really matters. It is the One that spoke our world into existence. By the power of His Word the light was separated from the darkness, Heaven was created and also Earth, water and dry land, grasses, herbs that yield seed and fruit trees according to its kind, day and night, and all the living creatures.
His voice is the One that is seamless. His voice moves from one thing to another easily and without interruptions or problems. His voice is pure. It is without flaw, error or fault. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me… Following, is not a passive response. It is actively moving, engaging in, pursuing and walking along; following is being or acting in accordance with, accepting as authority of, obeying, and seeking after, imitating, watching steadily, keeping the mind set on, and attending closely to the One to be followed. His Word (voice) is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account... His voice, delivers faith to follow. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. When following Christ, sometimes I can only in reality see the moment, and cannot see further than that. We cease to follow, when we are led by other voices, when we don’t want to submit to what we have heard in the still soft whisper. We cease to follow in that moment in the crossroads when what we have heard supersedes or doesn’t seem to fit into our plan. For example, our plan may be, go to school then get a job, buy a house then retire, travel and then die. Silly example, but how many of us live by a standard that the world says we are to live by? How many of us have planned out our experiences in this life without consulting the One who spoke our world into existence? And yet, circumstances happen that shake or rock our world so violently that we may duck and run for cover…when we already are covered… It is in that moment that we might look at our circumstances and or own ability or inability to handle it…and not at the One we are following for our assurance. Is this not crazy? His voice will always lead us. His voice will always reach out to us no matter where we have turned, run to, or hidden in or under. We just have to set our minds to attend to His voice. We must decide where we stand, and not falter between two opinions. Genesis Chapter 3 & 1 Kings Chapter 18 & 19

On occasion, my kids ask me about things that I have done while growing up. Sometimes, I feel confident that the choices that I made were ok, and are going to encourage my kids to do well too. And yet there are many occasions where I know the choices I made lacked discretion, sound judgment and true focus, my heart’s desire is that they will be able to learn from my mistakes and walk with God’s Truth to lead them forward, devoted only to Him..
