Discovering what love is one day at a time

Insulation is a really good thing to have between the walls of your house, especially in northern Minnesota. Without insulation, you would freeze to death in the wintertime. It definitely prevents us from the exposure to the damaging cold. It’s great to have gloves and boots and jackets that shelter us from the actual temperature of the air surrounding us. The insulation protects our skin, it screens us from the true nature of the air around us giving us a barrier or a wall of protection that stops the passage of or separates us from the damaging outside influence.
I love words and their meanings…especially in the light of God’s Word. When I look up the meaning of a word it gives me more substance to hang on to, I get a visual picture of the word. I like that; I like all the added details.
Do you ever worship the Lord in song and feel like your heart is being unwrapped, like the strings of your heart are being unraveled, and that if you do not physically move, your heart might actually self- combust right there on the spot. Does it almost seem like your movement is the only thing that is keeping it from happening?
When our littlest one was toddling around he loved to play in the Tupperware cupboard, and sit in the phone book drawer. He was a roly poly little guy, and had rubber band wrists and ankles. He actually bent the tracks on the drawer, and pulled the hinges out of the soft wood on the Tupperware cupboard. Also, he broke the frame of one of the doors. When he got into the drawer you could hear the hardware strain under his little pudgy body. The joy that came out of his mouth over his time in the drawer or giggling from inside the cupboard was worth the chaos that surrounded us. Tupperware was always strewn all over the floor, and the phone book and the hot pads were never in their proper spot. Helping our kids discover who they are is one of the joys of being their parents. Letting them explore and discover the world around them is messy and not always easy. Teaching them about God, as we are still learning ourselves makes life even more interesting. It is so amazing to me that He entrusts these children to our care…
